Polish Hamburgers (Klupskies) Recipe

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Meat Mixture:
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork and ground beef.
  • Add the finely chopped onion, minced garlic, egg, breadcrumbs, and milk. Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • Season the mixture with salt, black pepper, paprika, marjoram, and allspice. Mix again to incorporate the spices thoroughly.
  1. Form the Patties:
  • With your hands, shape the meat mixture into oval patties, about 1 inch thick.
  • Place the patties on a plate and set them aside.
  1. Cook the Klupskies:
  • Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Once the oil is hot, add the patties to the skillet. Cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through.
  • If necessary, cook in batches to avoid overcrowding the skillet.
  1. Serve:
  • Remove the patties from the skillet and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve these Polish hamburgers with mashed potatoes, a side of sauerkraut, or a fresh green salad. They pair wonderfully with a dollop of mustard or a side of pickles.

Notes:

  • For a slightly different flavor, you can substitute the breadcrumbs with finely crushed crackers or even add a spoonful of mustard to the meat mixture.
  • These patties can also be cooked on the grill for a smokier flavor.
